Historia firmy sięga roku 1947 i zaczyna się skromnym warsztatem otworzonym przez rodzinę Salomonów w Annecy we Francji. Pocz±tkowo warsztat produkuje raczej niewielkie ilo¶ci desek do nart, jednak wynalezienie przez Georga Salomona specjalistycznej maszyny (w 1952 roku) znacznie zwiększa produkcję.
Kolejne lata dostarczaj± następnych patentów, jednak dotycz± one już budowy nart, a dokładnie wi±zań.
Jednak sporty zimowe to nie jedyne pole działań firmy, w 1992 Salomon wypuszcza na rynek solidne obuwie przeznaczone do wędrówek.
Firma nie przestaje wprowadzać nowych rozwi±zań - w 1995 roku na rynku pojawiaj± się narty Prolink z zewnętrzym systemem pochałania drgań.
Po dwóch latach Salomon zostaje wykupiony przez Adidasa oraz przekształaca się tym samym w Adidas-Salomon SA. Nie ma to jednak dużego wpływu na dotychczasowy kierunek rozwoju firmy.
Z kolejnymi latami oferta znacznie się powiększa i obejmuje kompletne wyposażenie snowboardzisty, rolki oraz specjalistyczne buty trekkingowe.
